Laced Lady

Traditional materials have shaped the lace trend of A/W 2010. Delicate and luxurious, lace has appeared primarily in shades of black, white and camel. Designers such as Marc Jacobs and Celine have featured lace in their A/W 2010/11 runway shows. The new look lace, delicate and fitted to a more defined silhouette has been influenced by aged materials. WGSN material influences range from cross-hatched, preserved, flawed, imperfect and pigmented surfaces. Lace forecasting from "hand-manipulate needle-punched lived-in surfaces with blistered, rumpled and creased smocking for aged effects." The look has been popularised by magazines, such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, as a key trend of the season. Shona Joy's amour lace dress from her A/W 2010 collection has been featured by admired fashion blogger Nicole Warne. Furthermore, popular street fashion blog, The Sartorialist continues to thrive city streets with this classic trend.

Armed with Khaki

The ankle-length skirt has been worn long and proud embraced by Brisbane fashionista's as a trend from A/W 2010. Trend forecasts in WGSN as a "new multi-layered aesthetic" the trend has been evoked from the past and intrigued by fading memories. The key colours of the seasonal trend have been kept neutral, Khaki is featured in the pictured look. The contemporary neutral stimulates the consumer by desire for emotional connections. WGSN colour analysis for A/W 2010 predicted a dominance of neutrals. Relatable to the classic look the colour has remained nostalgic. "Nostalgic for colour that has lived before and has a sense of history." Designers have infused their own aesthetic into the trend with draping different fabrics appearing at Max Mara A/W 2010/11 runway show. The look has been picked up by Style.com "turning out demure yet dramatic skirts that skim the upper shins, graze the ankles, or fall gracefully somewhere in between." Social networking has further popularised the trend by admired fashion blogs, such as The Sartorialist and Gary Pepper Vintage. Ready to wear on Brisbane streets, the featured look is complete with another trend from A/W 2010, the felt floppy hat.

Floral Print

Floral prints and bright colours were featured vibrantly in the Spring 2011 fashion shows. The floral trend has been trickled down into retail stores sourced also in various vintage boutiques. The above look creates a wearable floral jacket inspired by the“explosion of flower power” featured on WGSN is the spring 2011 forecast. Floral print has been influenced from the WGSN colour forecast for S/S 2011. “Colour for spring/summer 2011 is optimistic yet contemplative.” Floral prints, explored by “previously unacceptable combinations using clashing tones for an explosion of colour” are featured on WGSN heady brights research and reference. The use of 'unacceptable combinations and clashing tones ' were exclusively featured by Dries Van Noten S/S 2011 runway show. Various designers such as Erdem and Marni feature oriental blooms as part of the season’s Chinoiserie and Japonesque influences. Pastoral floral has predominantly bloomed in this years spring/summer season. Brisbane motioned this pattern direction by following the floral trend on the city streets.
